The Go On Girl! Book Club Chapters
My how we’ve grown! New York 1 was where it all began with 12 members who met once a month in each other’s home. It was very simple back then. Each person selected a book they wanted to read, and we read and discussed it. What was interesting back then is that every person had a certain genre of book they liked to read, and that laid the foundation for the genres we read today. That very first meeting was held at co-founder Tracy Mitchell Brown’s apartment in Brooklyn, New York and set the tone for how we all wanted to get together around books. Tracy prepared all these wonderful breads with a big fruit salad and served warm teas. Today members meet just about anywhere that works for everyone -- in their homes, restaurants, and libraries or take their meetings on a field trip. For example when we read Barbara Chase-Riboud’s Sally Hemmings some chapters went to Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia for their book discussion.

Each chapter is limited to 12 members, however, there is no limit to the number of chapters that can exist in any given city or state. Chapters meet monthly to discuss that month's book.
